Uplands Medical Centre in line for £5m worth of renovations
Uplands Medical Centre in Whitefield is in line for £5m worth of renovations following recommendations from Bury CCG.
The final decision will being made by NHS Property Services in conjunction with NHS England, who will provide the finance, and is expected in the autumn.
Ivan Lewis MP said “This is positive news. I have been fighting for improvement to health services in Whitefield since 2008 and will fight hard on behalf of the community to do whatever I can to ensure this proposal succeeds.”
Unsworth Councillor David Jones said “I and my family are patients of Uplands and we are only too aware of the need for an up to date medical facility. I have been going to The Uplands since the early 1970’s. I appreciate the inconvenience that may be caused by travelling to an alternative site while the Uplands is being renovated but believe this will be more than outweighed by the benefits we will get in the long term if the proposal succeeds. I hope those who are less able to travel are given particular consideration, perhaps the option of using alternative surgeries locally.”
