STOP PRESS – 96 bus later service to Simister from April 2015
The two Labour councillors for Holyrood ward, Gill Campbell and Paddy Heneghan, welcome the recent decision by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to provide a later bus on the 96 service from Manchester to Simister Village with effect from April 2015.
Cllr. Paddy Heneghan said;
“We have been aware of the feeling among Simister village residents about the timing of the last bus service from Manchester to Simister. Through our colleague Cllr. Noel Bayley, who sits on the bus committee of TfGM, we have made requests for a later service to be put on. We can now announce that as a result of the strong case we have made, this has been agreed. This later bus service will benefit both bus travellers coming home from Manchester and Simister residents wishing to go into Manchester in the early evening.”
TfGM have approved the provision of an additional Monday to Saturday only last round trip 1827 from Simister and 1857 from Shudehill with effect from 13 April 2015.
Cllr. Noel Bayley, who is Bury Council’s representative on the Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) bus committee said:
“I have been lobbying for a later service to Simister for some time now, in response to numerous requests from locals, as Simister is effectively cut off after about 6pm to all but vehicle owners/drivers.”
