Throughout July and August the three St.Mary’s ward Labour Councillors have been working hard on behalf of local residents.
Councillors Noel Bayley, Eamonn O’Brien and Jane Black launched their St.Mary’s Summer Campaign in early July by talking to residents along Hilton Lane about their issues and concerns.
Newly elected councillor, Eamonn O’Brien said: “I wanted to waste no time getting back out into the ward. As a community activist I got to know residents and their concerns, and now elected I’m so pleased to be working hard on their behalf’.”
Eamonn, along with Noel Bayley and Jane Black have been holding regular ‘Roving Surgeries’ in different parts of the ward to identify any issues and concerns. Noel says: “We pick a few streets and go round knocking on doors. People are surprised at first that we aren’t just after their votes. Then we can have some really useful conversations when we find out about the street and area issues that we can report back to the Council for action.”
Jane added: “We’ve already helped fix pot holes in the road, faulty street lights and a range of other issues. We will be continuing to get out and about from now on, because your Prestwich Labour team works hard for you all year round.”
Sue, a local resident said: “I had reported my broken street light many times, but since Jane contacted the Council it has been fixed!”
Issues currently being dealt with include: parking, litter, overhanging trees, potholes and pavements, adult care, housing and financial issues – and much more.
If residents have missed over the summer campaign, your Labour teams will be around throughout the rest of the year. But get in touch if you need to.
You can contact your councillors by email or phone, and also by Twitter. All the contact details are on the ward tabs on this page.
