Prestwich Labour is happy to announce that it has secured a much needed £500,000 investment into a project to upgrade the A56/Bury New Road through Prestwich Village.
Community activist Catherine Preston added: “Having an improved main road through our village will be essential to the regeneration of Prestwich as a whole. I would encourage as many residents to contact both their local Labour teams and the regeneration group if they have ideas for how to use this investment.”
Local campaigner Eamonn O’Brien said: “Over the past few years we have spoken to residents and neighbours about all sorts of issues in Prestwich but concern over Bury New Road has increasingly been raised. I think many residents will be glad to hear Prestwich Labour is not only listening, or even simply speaking about these issues, but acting on them as well!”
Cllr Jane Black, who is active on the Prestwich Regeneration Group, welcomed this news: “After working alongside residents on the regeneration group and speaking to people on the doorstep this investment will come as good news! I am glad that our work as Prestwich Labour councillors has produced a great result for our area.”
